These two!! Kristen and Jonathan will always hold a special place in my heart. Not ONLY because they were my very first shoot as a Charleston local (EEEEEP!), but because their love for each other burns so bright and their joy is so contagious!
The first time I met with Kristen and Jonathan over FaceTime, I knew we were all going to get along so well. We laughed and the conversation was so easy! When I met them downtown last week in person for the first time, it was just like catching up with old friends! We hugged, chatted, and laughed as I dodged cars in the street during their session LOL (don’t recommend).
Jonathan is a firefighter in Goldsborough, NC and Kristen lives in Beaufort, SC. Jonathan was visiting Kristen during his days off, so they decided to make the trip to Charleston for their engagement session! Because firefighters are a deep part of Jonathan’s family, they wanted their first location to be the fire station on Meeting Street in downtown Charleston. Jonathan and Kristen arrived a little early and were able to talk with the guys on shift that day. They were SO sweet and opened all of the doors for us and even let us use the older fire engines for our photos (it’s kiiiiind of as dreamy as it sounds) !!!
We finished up at the Battery on the Charleston Harbor with a beautiful sunset and an even more beautiful gift exchanged from Kristen to Jonathan. Jonathan was extremely close to his papa, but his papa unexpectedly passed away before he was able to see them get married. Kristen had a beautiful pin made for him with a picture of Jonathan and his papa to wear on the inside of his suit on their wedding day so his papa could be with them. Seriously, all the tears. It was such a sweet gesture of love that I got to witness.
Kristen and Jonathan, your JOY and selfless love for each other is my absolute favorite thing about you both! Your love is so tangible in these photos and I feel truly blessed to be a part of such an incredibly love story. I cannot wait for your wedding next month!!!
