Caroline and Jared’s Governor Thomas Bennett House wedding from the summer was one of the warmest, most heartfelt celebrations I’ve ever experienced!
Just months after dating, the entire world was shaken by the pandemic of 2020. This lead Caroline and Jared to the classic, “this is going to make it or break it for us” conversation as a new couple. Between the year’s adversities, Jared opening his own orthodontic practice, Caroline starting a marketing business, and building a townhome, the two knew they could accomplish anything together.
In January of 2022, Jared and Caroline ventured to Aspen, Colorado for the X-Games, a much-needed getaway. Colorado is a special place to Jared. Much of his family is from there, his parents met there. Plus, he has enjoyed many ski trips to the Rocky Mountain’s infamous slopes. Walking to dinner on a snowy Aspen night, the two walked through the Christmas light-filled downtown. There, Jared got down on one knee and asked Caroline to marry him.
Jared and Caroline shared old fashioneds and even warmer laughs over their four-hour first date. They met at The Crunkleton, a bourbon cocktail club in Charlotte, North Carolina. As an ode to their love’s inception, the couple whisked guests into their own version of the leather and oak bar during their reception on their wedding day. “The Ode Fashioned” signature cocktail was accompanied by Jared’s personal bourbon collection. It was all whiskey business from there!
Governor Thomas Bennett House Wedding with Southern Traditions
Celebrating the southern tradition of “burying the bourbon,” Jared and Caroline buried an engraved bottle of Blanton’s Gold Bourbon, for a beautiful wedding day and marriage. The bottle was buried at Caroline’s late grandparent’s home in Charleston, South Carolina. They’re just minutes from the wedding venue. This was done in honor of their own long marriage and her grandmother being the first to know of the couple’s wedding plans. With storms in the forecast, the tradition prevailed unleashing unseasonably mild temperatures and beautiful sunshine just before the ceremony began! The sounds of “Sweet Caroline,” glasses clinking, and laughter swept the glowing sailcloth tent all night. Everything felt just as warm as the first date years before.
Caroline and Jared, there truly aren’t words to express how much I absolutely adore you two! Your wedding day was full of so much love and laughter. It felt like celebrating with my own family. I’m so grateful I had the privilege of documenting your love story!
