Most people book a newborn session… But what if we made puppy sessions a thing? I just captured my first welcome home puppy session, and I hope it won’t be my last! I fully support starting this new trend!
This shoot was extra special because it wasn’t just any family, it was one of my best friends, Megan, and her husband, Joe, welcoming their first pup, Blake the Bernadoodle, into their adorable home in downtown Charleston!
A Puppy Pickup Day to Remember
I was staying with Megan and Joe the day they went to pick up Blake, and the excitement was REAL! Joe flew all the way to Utah to pick up Blake, while Megan and I had a beach day waiting for him to get back. (OOPS, just two passenger princesses). When Joe finally returned at midnight with the cutest little floof, it literally felt like Christmas morning, and I wasn’t even his parents! Blake was instantly loved and so, so photogenic.
First Days at Home in the Heart of Charleston
Their home in downtown Charleston was the perfect backdrop: charming, full of character, and now, full of puppy energy! From snuggles on the couch to nose boops on the stairs, I got to document all the little moments and it convinced me that welcome home puppy sessions should absolutely be a thing. It was cozy, chaotic, and absolutely perfect.
Let’s Make Puppy Sessions a Thing
Blake’s session was such a joyful reminder that sessions don’t have to wait for big milestones like weddings or babies. Sometimes, bringing home your first dog together is just as worthy of documenting, and just as emotional!
Megan and Joe, thank you for letting me be part of such a fun memory. Blake is the luckiest boy and I can’t wait to see all of the adventures ahead!
