In-Home Newborn Session in Charlotte, NC

There are some portrait sessions that tug on my heartstrings a little extra, and Baby Claire’s sweet in-home newborn session in Charlotte was one of those! Photographing Emily and Porter as new parents felt so full circle for me. Emily was one of my brides back in 2022 (you can peek at their gorgeous engagement session here), and over the years, she and Porter have become some of our closest friends. To be invited into their home for this season of life was truly such an honor.

Baby Claire

Baby Claire was an absolute dream during her session. She looked beyond precious in her little custom swaddle from Beaufort Bonnet Company, perfectly cozy and sweet in her pink nursery. I loved how they gave the space a subtle coastal nod as a tribute to Porter’s Florida roots. It felt so personal and intentional. And the best part? Her name was a secret until the day she arrived, which made capturing these first portraits even more special.

Of course, no family portrait is complete without Winston, their fluffy cat! He made a few cameo appearances, though he’s still figuring out how he feels about sharing the spotlight with baby sister. Those little moments of him peeking down at her made me laugh so much and added great personality to their gallery.

An Extra Special In-Home Newborn Session in Charlotte

As much as I love photographing newborns, this session carried an extra layer of joy and emotion for me. Watching Emily and Porter step into their roles as parents brought me to tears more than once behind the camera. Their love for Claire is so evident, and capturing their little family together in this sweet season is something I’ll treasure for a long time.

In-home newborn sessions are always some of my favorites. They feel cozy, authentic, and personal in a way that can’t be replicated. But getting to photograph Baby Claire, in her darling all-pink nursery, with two of my dearest friends… that made this one unforgettable.

Emily and Porter, thank you for inviting me into these moments. I couldn’t be happier for your little family of three (plus Winston, of course!).
