There are some weddings where the energy is so big, so joyful, and so full of love that you leave at the end of the night still smiling. Holly and Patrick’s Italian-inspired Charleston wedding weekend at Lowndes Grove was one of those. Between Holly’s lively Italian family, Patrick’s warm Cuban relatives, and the incredible blend of both cultures, this day was nothing short of a whirlwind – in the very best way!
Their Love Story
Holly and Patrick’s story feels straight out of a rom-com. Though they grew up attending rival high schools and the same college. However, they didn’t actually meet until years later, when a swipe right on Hinge changed everything. Their first date was a picnic on the beach in 2020. That date quickly became a defining moment for their relationship. So much so, that when it came time to propose, Patrick took Holly back to that very same spot. (The only hiccup was convincing her to walk across the sand in suede boots that day, something they both laugh about now!)
Adding to the sentiment, Holly’s engagement ring was Patrick’s mother’s ring, an heirloom passed down after her passing during his freshman year of college. It was a beautiful reminder of family woven into every detail of their wedding day.
A Destination Charleston Wedding
Though they’re based in Newport Beach, California, Holly and Patrick fell in love with Charleston on a few visits. They both knew immediately it would be the perfect backdrop for their destination wedding. The fun started on King Street for their rehearsal dinner at the fabulous Parcel 32! The quintessential Charleston charm continued the next day at Lowndes Grove, with sweeping water views and grand oak trees. Its timeless beauty is what makes it one of my absolute favorite venues to photograph!
A Joyful, Italian-Inspired Celebration at Lowndes Grove
With Holly’s Italian heritage, design details by Francesca at Pure Luxe Bride drew inspiration from the Amalfi Coast: cheerful yellows and blues, lemons tucked into centerpieces, and even a limoncello-inspired seating chart! Every element felt like an ode to family, tradition, and joy.
From the moment the day began, laughter filled every corner of Lowndes Grove. Holly and Patrick exchanged personal vows during their ceremony – something they had been excited about throughout their entire engagement season. And their words brought both tears and laughter to the guests, and me!
The reception was a true party in every sense. Big families, big love, and the most joyful atmosphere made me feel less like a photographer and more like a guest celebrating alongside them. It was my first time working with Francesca and the talented team at Pure Luxe Bride, who brought Holly and Patrick’s vision to life with absolute perfection! Every detail felt thoughtful and seamless, allowing the couple to truly be present in their day.
Holly and Patrick’s wedding was the perfect blend of cultures, family, and fun, all against the backdrop of one of Charleston’s most iconic and beautiful venues. It was such a joy and an honor to capture their love story. I’ll be forever grateful I got to be a part of such an unforgettable celebration.
For couples dreaming of a Charleston luxury wedding, Lowndes Grove offers endless beauty and charm. Holly and Patrick’s day was the perfect reminder of just how magical it can be.
