Virginia and Hunter’s wedding day at Quail Hollow Club was one of those days that just felt happy from start to finish. Sweet, emotional, full of laughter, and somehow perfectly timed with the weather in the most dramatic way possible (more on that later). From heartfelt moments to playful details, their day was such a beautiful reflection of who they are together.
Virginia and Hunter met online after college while living in Charlotte, and from there everything just clicked. Virginia is a fellow BIG Duke fan (her dad was actually the Duke basketball team doctor for many years, which of course I LOVED!), and Hunter proposed at Duke Mansion with a picnic, a spot that later became even more meaningful when they hosted their rehearsal dinner there as well.
They’re the kind of couple who genuinely loves spending time together, whether it’s playing tennis, going on long walks, trying new restaurants, or cooking at home (Hunter loves to cook!). She’s a margarita girl, he’s all about red wine, and they headed to Italy for their honeymoon, which honestly feels so on-brand for them.
Virginia and Hunter chose to read private vows to each other pre-ceremony, which was such a meaningful moment for the two of them. And Hunter… he was ALL heart that day! He teared up during their first look, and then again when his mom peeked in to watch. When he saw her, he immediately ran over and just lost it. Full tears. Such a tender, unforgettable moment.
You could tell all day long how much they adore each other, filled with giggly, affectionate, and completely present moments.
A Ceremony Full of Color & Meaning
Their ceremony at Quail Hollow Club was absolutely stunning!! The floral arch was filled with soft, but vibrant tones — lilac, chartreuse, blue, and green — creating such a romantic and fresh feel. One of my favorite details? The blue umbrellas placed around the ceremony from Party Tables! They were adorable, and ended up being a huge hit with guests.
Virginia also loved incorporating thoughtful paper details. Their ceremony programs doubled as fans (a lifesaver on a warm day!), and one of the coolest design moments was that the liner from their save-the-date matched the pattern of their linens at the reception. Those little details really tied everything together so beautifully!
We were watching the weather all day, with storm clouds rolling in, thunder in the distance. Somehow, it held off just in time! The ceremony went on without a drop of rain, and the moment Virginia and Hunter walked back up the aisle as husband and wife… the skies opened up and it poured.
It was honestly kind of magical.
The only adjustment was their moving cocktail hour indoors, but Quail Hollow is such a gorgeous venue that it didn’t take away from the celebration at all.
A Quail Hollow Reception to Remember
The reception was just as fun as the ceremony. Virginia loved the dance floor wrap by Cluxe Luxury Events, which brought so much energy to the space, and guests could not stop talking about the monogrammed ice sculpture from Artisan Ice Sculptures — it was SUCH a hit! And rightfully so, because it came out amazing.
Between the colorful florals, thoughtful design details, and incredible energy from their families and wedding party, the entire evening was definitely one memorable celebration. Everyone was in the best spirits, and the dance floor stayed full all night.
Virginia and Hunter, your wedding day was such a joy to be part of. From emotional moments to playful details, it was the perfect blend of heartfelt and fun. and I loved every second of documenting it!
