Some couples are just impossible not to love, and Lizzie and Lucas are exactly those people.  From their engagement session at Duke Mansion to their joyful winter wedding day at Charlotte Country Club, these two brought so much joy, energy, and genuine kindness to every interaction. If I could clone them as a couple and photograph versions of them every weekend, I absolutely would.

These two first met on a Fourth of July trip to Charleston and quickly became inseparable. Since then, they have built a relationship centered around laughter, adventure, and simply enjoying life together. That same spirit was woven throughout every moment of their wedding day.

One of the things I loved most about Lizzie and Lucas is that their focus was never on perfection. It was on people. They wanted their friends and family together. They wanted everyone to have an amazing time, and the day to feel like one big celebration.

And that is EXACTLY what it felt like!

A Beautiful January Day in Charlotte

Lizzie and Lucas were married on January 3rd at Charlotte Country Club. Even though it was the middle of winter, the weather was surprisingly beautiful. The grass was still green, the temperatures were comfortable, and we were able to spend plenty of time outside capturing portraits throughout the property.

Since the wedding took place just after the holidays, the club was still decorated for Christmas. And Lizzie LOVES Christmas so she fully embraced it, allowing the festive trees and seasonal décor to become part of the day rather than something to work around.

One of my favorite details was the vintage car they incorporated into the celebration. We made sure to sneak away for portraits with it, and those images ended up being some of my favorites from the entire day!

Lizzie also looked absolutely STUNNING! Her Amsale gown was timeless, elegant, and perfectly suited for a classic country club wedding. We transformed one of the club’s beautiful ornate rooms into the perfect getting-ready space for portraits and first looks before the ceremony began.

The Best Kind of Joyful Atmosphere

While the details were beautiful, perfectly planned by Events by La Fête – what really made this wedding unforgettable was the atmosphere.

Everywhere you looked, people were smiling, laughing, and genuinely excited to celebrate these two. The energy was contagious from the moment guests arrived until the very last song of the night.

One of Lizzie’s favorite moments was the second line that led guests from dinner into the reception. As musicians moved through the club, everyone followed along, filling the hallways with cheering, dancing, and excitement before arriving at the dance floor ready to celebrate.

It perfectly reflected the spirit of the day. Fun. Joyful. Full of life. My kind of people!!!

The dance floor stayed packed, the party never slowed down, and every person there seemed genuinely thrilled to be part of Lizzie and Lucas’s story.

 

These two are truly golden retrievers in human form. Kind, welcoming, joyful, and so much fun to be around. Their wedding day was a reflection of exactly who they are, and I feel incredibly grateful that I got to document it!!
