A Palm Royale 40th birthday in the heart of Charlotte? Don’t mind if I do!

The talented Katrina Hutchins brought me in to photograph the details of this palm beach inspired 40th birthday celebration, and when I say she pulled this together quickly, I mean quickly! This entire event came together in about two weeks at Charlotte Country Club. Which makes it even MORE impressive when you see just how styled and intentional everything felt. I’ve loved working alongside Katrina before at many gorgeous weddings across the southeast, including this beautiful Lowndes Grove wedding.

The vision was a retro Palm Beach country club party inspired by the late 1950s. Bright colors, old-school tennis energy, and that classic country club glamour all came together to celebrate Sarah turning 40 in the most fabulous way.

Color, Glamour, and the Best Energy

The palm beach inspired 40th birthday took place at Charlotte Country Club in the middle of summer, and Katrina completely transformed the space. What started as a darker room became something vibrant, playful, and full of personality.

It truly felt like stepping onto the set of Palm Royale. The colors, the textures, the patterns!!! Everything worked together to create an immersive experience that felt both nostalgic and elevated.

Guests showed up fully dressed for the theme, which made such a difference. The whole room felt cohesive, energetic, and just really fun in a way that you cannot fake.

A Celebration Worth Documenting

Even though I was there specifically to capture the details, this event was such a reminder of how powerful great design can be. In such a short amount of time, the team created something that felt completely transportive. As a Charlotte photographer, I love getting to document celebrations like this. Not just weddings, but moments that are full of creativity, personality, and joy. This one was bold, colorful, and such a good time from start to finish!
